Rental Information Built in 1744 by wine importer John Wister, Grumblethorpe was intended as a summer retreat house. The house is a prime example of domestic Germantown architecture of the period, and the large gardens surrounding the house have been restored to resemble the gardens as they appeared in the 19th century. All Special Event Rentals Are For Outdoors Only.  Grumblethorpe may accommodate parties up to 100 guests.  Guided tours are available for an additional fee. Fees/Prices:  Dinners, Receptions, and Cocktail Parties: $500 Weddings and Wedding Receptions:  $750 A discount is available for nonprofit organizations.
