The Powel House will have an open house on July 2nd from 11-4pm, and the Physick House will have an open house on July 3rd from 12-4pm with free Dr. Physick's soda! Come relax in the gardens and explore our 18th century Philadelphia homes to kick off the Fourth of July Weekend!

Second Saturdays at Grumblethorpe

On the second Saturday of the month, PhilaLandmarks members recieve 10% off their purchases at the GYV Farmstand, and there will be free house tours! Come out and support our Grumblethorpe Youth Volunteers! And new for this coming saturday is the BBQ truck from Herb Scott Catering(10am-2pm) Herb Scott is breaking out the smoker and using wood from the Grumblethorpe Crabapple tree that was knocked down by heavy winds earlier this year.

The Yellow Wallpaper at The Physick House

"There are things in that paper that nobody knows but me." So says the narrator in Charlotte Perkins Gilman's Victorian masterpiece, The Yellow Wallpaper. This tale of psychological terror and feminist awakening comes to life in the parlor of the Physick House, as a woman suffering from "nervous depression" is kept in the country on medical rest by her husband, only to discover that there is something far more insidious lurking within the walls of her prison-like room".

I’m With Her: Hillary Clinton and Philly’s Founding Women

This Hillary-inspired stroll in the 18th-century capital city reveals the prominent women of Philadelphia and their role in the founding of our nation. Discover how smart, ambitious women who couldn’t vote for anyone or be elected to anything wielded great influence. From the impact of our first First Ladies, to the evolution of healthcare in early America, to the impact of women’s suffrage, we explore Philly’s role in this historic moment at the 2016 DNC.

This tour will stop at the Powel House, and discuss strong women like Elizabeth Powel!
