Philadelphia, PA, November 1, 2016– PhilaLandmarks has received a generous grant award from the William B. Dietrich Foundation for the complete restoration of the roof at the historic Hill-Physick House (1786) located at 321 South 4th Street in Society Hill, Philadelphia. As an 85-year old historic preservation nonprofit, PhilaLandmarks is committed to maintaining our properties for the long-term and this grant award is critical in ensuring that the Hill-Physick House remains an important resource in Philadelphia’s cultural community.

“This grant from the William B. Dietrich Foundation allows PhilaLandmarks to fulfill our mission of being stewards of our four historic house museums. We believe that historic preservation illustrates the value of what endures in our society, and that this inspires people to learn about history and engage with their community. ”

Found in the May 31, 2016 issue of Wine Spectator, an interesting article about the resurgence of Madeira and its roots in Colonial Philadelphia featuring local historian David Maxey and a beautiful photo of our Hill-Physick house!
