OUR MISSION

We inspire people to engage with history and build community by preserving our historic sites and providing relevant historical, educational and cultural programming.

  • We believe that historic preservation illustrates the value of what endures in our society, and that this inspires people to learn about history and engage with their community.

  • We are trusted stewards committed to maintaining our historic properties and collections, so they continue to be public resources for future generations.

  • We believe in building collaborative relationships between individuals, organizations, and communities to enhance understanding and empathy, and engender pride of place.

Our Core Values

For over 90 years, The Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks (PhilaLandmarks) has played a significant role in the historic preservation movement in Philadelphia by restoring and presenting our distinguished house museums to the public.

  • We are committed to interpreting and celebrating each site’s uniqueness and distinct contributions to history and its community.

  • We are committed to supporting, generating and inspiring scholarship on all aspects of our houses and their inhabitants to add to our knowledge and continue to inspire dialogue.

  • We are inclusive and welcoming to all and we will continue to broaden our audiences and promote diverse voices, perspectives, and themes.

Our Vision

We tell engaging stories of people and places related to our sites through our programming and prioritize preservation projects to protect our histories for future generations.
