AGENDA

Dennis Boylan is Honorary Captain and a former commander of the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry. He served with the Troop for fifteen years in the 104th Cavalry of the 28th Infantry Division of the Pennsylvania National Guard, among other aspects of his military service, and was Commander of the Troop from 1983 to 1988.

Dennis has been deeply involved in the preservation of archives and the collection of militaria and related fine art held by the Troop. As curator of the museum at 23rd Street Armory, Dennis has headed up careful stewardship of the Troop's unique collection and was instrumental in the establishment of the Military heritage Education Foundation.

Active in civic affairs, Dennis is involved with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association and vice president of the Parkway Council. He has been deeply involved in the "Reimagining the Parkway" project.

Notice of Election of Members of the Board of Trustees 2026:
Election of Trustees is for a term of three years.    

For a third term ending at the Annual Meeting in 2029:

Jonathan Knight Bitting is a retired financial services executive with 30+ with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Legg Mason, Citigroup, Bloomberg, Chase Manhattan Bank, Kidder Peabody, Mercantile Trust Co.. A graduate of St. George’s School (1973) and Boston University, BA (1977), Jonathan is involved in numerous organizations including: Union Club of the City of New York, Country Club of New Canaan, Duxbury Yacht Club, Spouting Rock Beach Association, Newport, Holland Lodge #8 F&AM, New York, The Society of the Cincinnati in the State of New Hampshire, The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Connecticut, The Jamestowne Society of New York, and The Saint Nicholas Society also in New York. Jonathan holds leadership positions as President of Getabout, Inc. (a non-profit transportation company for seniors and those who can’t drive) in New Canaan, CT, Deputy Governor General and Registrar of the Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Connecticut, Endowment Chair for St. Mark’s New Canaan Episcopal Church and as Trustee at Plimoth Plantation.

Norman Marcus, P.E. of Meadowbrook, PA is a licensed, professional engineer involved in engineering design and operation for the American transit industry and railroads. He serves as the technical advisor for the SEPTA Citizens Advisory Committee and is a consultant for the Philadelphia and New York City Regions. Norman is an active member of the community serving on many other boards such as Briar Bush Nature Center, Meadowbrook Bird Sanctuary and Abington’s Police Athletic League. Norman is an active member of the Germantown Historical Society, Rydal-Meadowbrook Civic Association, Liberty Bird Alliance, Old York Road Historical Society, Preservation Alliance, American Society of Civil Engineers, ASM International, and Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

Elizabeth Streitz Powel is a management/marketing consultant based in New York City with 35 years of experience. After graduating with honors from Williams College with a BA in political science, she started her career at the blue chip investment bank Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette (DLJ) focusing on institutional equity trading & sales and entrepreneurial projects. At DLJ she also helped launch new investment products managed by DLJ's asset management subsidiary, Alliance Capital Management. Elizabeth moved on to do coursework in film studies and then to graduate school at Columbia University School of International Affairs before starting her own consulting firm specialized in advising blue chip companies in the financial services and the arts and culture sector.
In New York, Elizabeth is a member of numerous arts and culture institutions including Museum of Modern Art (Fellow), the Whitney Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The New York Historical Society and numerous theatre repertory companies and the Met Opera. In Newport, she’s a member of the Preservation Society of Newport, the Newport Historical Society, the Norman Bird Sanctuary and Aquidneck Land Trust.
Elizabeth also works on Special Projects for Mount Vernon, which the Powel family continues to be involved with and support. In recent years, Elizabeth has also served in leadership roles (President or Treasurer) on her Manhattan Co-op Board where she was involved in managing numerous and extensive capital projects to enhance their historic Beaux Arts era building.
Elizabeth’s latest contribution as a PhilaLandmarks board member was creating our new high-end PhilaLandmarks website. A 2 1/2 year project that included outlining the extensive new content structure for the site, designing and implementing new upscale presentation & visuals, researching and writing all the detailed & new text sections & developing more sophisticated interactive pages, forms and features to better communicate with & deepen the commitments of all of our valued audiences.

For a fourth term ending at the Annual Meeting in 2029:

Caroline Mills is a copywriter at Agency M in Old City, Philadelphia. A graduate of Connecticut College in New London, CT, Caroline pursued a degree in Literatures in English with Distinction. She began her career at Quaker City Mercantile, where she initially crossed paths with Landmarks and helped put on several collaborative events at the Hill-Physick and Powel Houses. She resides in Philadelphia.

For a fifth term ending at the Annual Meeting in 2029:

Timothy M. Alles is the former Chief Financial Officer and member of the Operating Committee for Veritable LP. He joined the organization in 1996, having previously spent four years as Chief Financial Officer of the Asset Management Group line of business for PNC Advisors. He received his BS and MBA in Finance from Rider University. Tim currently serves as our Treasurer.

Stephen S. Lee is a founding principal of Logan Capital, Treasurer and Growth portfolio manager. He is also a member of the Fixed Income team. A graduate of Lehigh University with a BS in accounting. Before founding Logan Capital with his partners in 1993, Stephen was previously employed at Mercer Capital Management and Merrill Lynch. His involvement in the community includes serving on several Investment Committees and Foundation Boards. Stephen resides in Haverford.

The Nominating Committee, Board of Trustees, and Management Team of the Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks support each of the above nominations for service on the Board of Trustees and recommend a vote in favor of each candidate.
